P&O Cruises in Lanzarote 2026–2027: Port Calls & Shore Excursions
18 September 2026 · Lanzarote Experience Tours
- P&O Cruises is one of the best-known cruise lines in the British market, with a fleet of seven ships offering a wide range of holidays, including itineraries to the Canary Islands. During the 2026–2027 cruise season, several P&O Cruises ships are scheduled to call at Arrecife, Lanzarote, giving passengers the opportunity to discover the island during their day ashore.
P&O Cruises in Lanzarote 2026–2027: Port Calls & Shore Excursions
According to our current Lanzarote cruise calendar, the P&O Cruises ships scheduled to call at Arrecife during the season are Iona, Ventura, Azura, Britannia and Arcadia.
- Iona — innovation on a larger scale. One of the newest and largest ships in the P&O Cruises fleet, Iona carries up to 5,200 guests and features a three-deck glass Grand Atrium, an infinity pool and a wide choice of dining venues. She regularly sails Canary Islands itineraries from Southampton.
- Ventura — a family-friendly all-rounder. P&O Cruises describes Ventura as its “fun all-rounder”, with activities and entertainment for different generations, making her a familiar choice for British passengers cruising to destinations including the Canary Islands.
- Azura — a sociable ship for Canary Islands cruising. Azura combines family-friendly facilities, entertainment and plenty of social spaces on board. She is particularly relevant for Canary Islands passengers because P&O Cruises operates Canary Islands fly-cruises aboard Azura during the winter season.
- Britannia — P&O Cruises' flagship. Britannia is P&O Cruises' flagship and combines contemporary design with restaurants, entertainment and facilities for both families and adults. She is also among the P&O ships sailing Canary Islands itineraries.
- Arcadia — a more traditional, adults-only P&O experience. Arcadia offers a different style of P&O Cruises holiday from the larger family ships and is part of the cruise line's programme of voyages to destinations including the Canary Islands.
Planning your P&O cruise call in Lanzarote
1. Where does P&O Cruises dock in Lanzarote?
P&O Cruises ships call at Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. The exact cruise berth may vary depending on the ship and the other vessels scheduled in port that day. If you have booked a shore excursion with Lanzarote Experience Tours, always check the meeting instructions provided for your specific cruise call, as these will tell you exactly where and when to meet us.

2. Can I visit Timanfaya during a cruise call?
Yes. Timanfaya National Park can be visited during a cruise call in Lanzarote, provided your ship’s time in port allows enough time for the journey and visit.
If you are visiting independently, it is important to plan ahead and check the current ticket and admission requirements for your date.
If you book a shore excursion or a private tour with Lanzarote Experience Tours, you do not need to purchase your attraction tickets in advance. On our shared excursions, the entrance tickets included in the itinerary are already included in the tour price. On a private tour, entrance fees are not included in the tour price, but we can arrange the necessary admissions for the places you choose to visit, and you can pay the corresponding entrance fees to us on the day of the tour.
This means you can concentrate on enjoying your day ashore while we organise the visits according to your ship’s schedule.
3. Do I need to book Lanzarote attraction tickets in advance?
If you are exploring Lanzarote independently, some attractions may require or benefit from advance booking, particularly when admission is for a specific date or time. For cruise passengers, planning ahead is especially important because your time ashore is limited. If you are travelling with Lanzarote Experience Tours, you do not need to purchase attraction tickets yourself in advance. On our shared excursions, admission to the attractions included in the itinerary is already included in the tour price. On our private tours, entrance fees are not included because you choose the places you would like to visit. However, we can arrange the necessary tickets and access for your itinerary, and you can pay the corresponding entrance fees to us in cash on the day of the tour. This gives cruise passengers the flexibility of a tailor-made itinerary without having to organise attraction tickets themselves before arriving in Lanzarote.
4. Can I explore Lanzarote independently from the cruise port?
Yes. You can explore Lanzarote independently during your cruise call, but it is important to plan your transport, attraction tickets and return to the ship in advance. Arrecife itself can be explored independently, while attractions such as Timanfaya, La Geria, El Golfo, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and César Manrique's creations are spread across different parts of the island. If you plan to visit several places during a single cruise call, take travelling distances and your ship's departure time into account. On days when several cruise ships are in port, popular attractions and transport services may also be busier than usual.
5. How much time should I allow to return to my ship?
Always check the all-aboard time provided by P&O Cruises for your particular call, as it may be earlier than the ship's published departure time. If you are exploring Lanzarote independently, do not plan to arrive back at the port at the last minute. Allow a comfortable safety margin for traffic, parking, unexpected delays and the journey back to Arrecife. Your available time ashore varies according to the individual itinerary, so check the information for your ship and your specific cruise date before planning your day. P&O itself notes that the amount of time in port varies by cruise and destination.
6. Which shore excursions are available for my P&O cruise?
The excursions available depend on your ship, cruise date and time in port. Find Iona, Ventura, Azura, Britannia or Arcadia below and select the date your ship calls at Lanzarote. You will be taken directly to your cruise itinerary, where you can see the shore excursions available specifically for your call and book the option that suits you.
Shore excursions designed around your P&O cruise schedule
Exploring Lanzarote during a cruise call is different from visiting the island on a regular day trip. Your time ashore is limited, and returning to your ship comfortably before departure is essential.
For this reason, Lanzarote Experience Tours adapts its shore excursion itineraries to the time available for each cruise call. We carefully plan the route, visits and return journey so that you can enjoy Lanzarote without the unnecessary stress of worrying about getting back to your ship on time.
The itinerary of a cruise excursion may therefore be different from the equivalent regular island tour.
Prefer to discover Lanzarote in a smaller group?
Cruise line excursions are a convenient option for exploring Lanzarote, but you may prefer to experience the island in a smaller group with a local guide.
At Lanzarote Experience Tours, our small-group shore excursions are organised in separate language groups and carefully planned around your P&O ship’s time in port.
Attraction tickets included in the itinerary are already included in the tour price, allowing you to spend more of your day discovering Lanzarote rather than organising each visit yourself.
Small group. Local guide. More time to enjoy Lanzarote.
Grand Tour — See more of Lanzarote
Discover more of Lanzarote on a shore excursion specially adapted to your time in port. Visit Timanfaya National Park, travel through the volcanic landscapes of La Geria (time permitting), and continue north to two of César Manrique’s most iconic creations: the Cactus Garden and Jameos del Agua. The itinerary is carefully planned around your ship’s schedule, allowing you to experience different sides of Lanzarote while returning to the cruise port with plenty of time before departure.
Timanfaya & South Tour — Volcanoes and the South
Discover Lanzarote’s spectacular volcanic south on a shore excursion designed around your cruise schedule. Visit Timanfaya National Park and the Fire Mountains, followed by some of the most characteristic landscapes of southern Lanzarote, such as El Golfo, Los Hervideros and the Salinas de Janubio. A comfortable way to experience the island’s volcanic scenery without worrying about timings: the itinerary is organised to ensure your return to the cruise port with sufficient time before your ship departs.

Timanfaya Express — Timanfaya made simple
Travelling independently with a rental car but haven’t been able to get tickets for Timanfaya? Drive to the village of Yaiza, where you will meet us and join our approximately 3-hour excursion to Timanfaya National Park.
Discover the Fire Mountains, the geothermal demonstrations at Islote de Hilario and the famous Route of the Volcanoes. Afterwards, we return you to Yaiza so you can collect your car and continue exploring Lanzarote independently.
Important: Timanfaya Express does not depart from the cruise port. Cruise passengers who want pick-up and return at the port should choose our Timanfaya & South Tour.

Private Shore Excursion — Your island, your way
Discover Lanzarote at your own pace with a private vehicle and official guide, exclusively for you and your group. Choose the places you would most like to visit and we will create a personalised itinerary based on your interests, the time your ship is in port and the distances between each stop. Whether you want to explore Timanfaya, César Manrique’s creations, La Geria, the volcanic coast or some of Lanzarote’s lesser-known places, we take care of the route and timings so that you can simply enjoy the island. Entrance fees are not included in the tour price, but you do not need to purchase them yourself in advance. We can arrange the necessary admissions for your itinerary, and you can pay the corresponding entrance fees to us in cash on the day of the tour.
