Lanzarote Airport to Costa Teguise: Bus, Taxi, Car Hire or Private Transfer?
1 October 2026 · Lanzarote Experience Tours
If you are staying in Costa Teguise, one of the first things to organise is how to get from Lanzarote Airport (ACE) to Costa Teguise.
Located on Lanzarote's east coast, north of Arrecife, Costa Teguise is one of the island's main holiday resorts. Its beaches, long seafront promenade and relaxed atmosphere make it particularly popular with couples and families, while Las Cucharas Beach is also one of Lanzarote's best-known windsurfing spots.
Unlike Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise does not have the same straightforward direct airport bus connection, so it is useful to understand the different transport options before you arrive.
In this guide, we explain how to travel from Lanzarote Airport to Costa Teguise by public transport, taxi, hire car or private transfer, as well as what you can expect once you arrive.
How far is Costa Teguise from Lanzarote Airport?
Costa Teguise is located on the east coast of Lanzarote, approximately north-east of the airport and beyond Arrecife.
For our private transfer service, we allow approximately 20–25 minutes, although the actual journey time can vary according to traffic and the exact location of your accommodation.
Costa Teguise is relatively spread out, so it is useful to provide the exact name and address of your hotel, apartment or villa when arranging transport.
Is there a direct bus from Lanzarote Airport to Costa Teguise?
This is where travelling to Costa Teguise differs from travelling to Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca.
Aena currently lists Line 22 between Lanzarote Airport and Arrecife from Monday to Friday, while Line 23 operates between the airport, Arrecife and Playa Honda at weekends. Aena does not list a direct airport service to Costa Teguise. Aena
Travelling by public transport to Costa Teguise therefore normally involves travelling towards Arrecife and using an onward connection.
This can be an economical option if you are travelling light and are comfortable changing buses, but it is less convenient with several suitcases, young children or after a long flight.
Tip: Bus routes and timetables can change. Always check the latest official information before travelling.
Taxi from Lanzarote Airport to Costa Teguise
Official taxis are available from the designated taxi rank outside the airport terminal.
A taxi provides a direct journey to your accommodation without the need to change buses in Arrecife.
Fares are metered and depend on the applicable tariff, time and day of travel.
During particularly busy arrival periods, when several flights land within a short time, queues can form at the airport taxi rank and waiting times may be longer than usual.

If you prefer to know that your transport has already been arranged before your flight lands, a pre-booked private transfer is another option.
Hiring a car at Lanzarote Airport
Hiring a car can be a good choice if you plan to explore Lanzarote independently during your holiday.
Several car rental companies operate at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.
The drive to Costa Teguise is relatively straightforward, but if you intend to spend most of your holiday around the resort, consider how often you will actually need a car.
Costa Teguise has a long seafront promenade and many hotels, restaurants and beaches are accessible on foot depending on the location of your accommodation.
Parking in Costa Teguise
Parking conditions depend on the area and accommodation.
Some hotels and apartment complexes provide their own parking, while elsewhere you may need to use public or street parking.
Las Cucharas, for example, has parking facilities among the services listed for the beach.
If you are hiring a car for your entire stay, it is worth checking the parking arrangements at your accommodation before travelling.

Discover Costa Teguise
Once you arrive, Costa Teguise offers quite a different atmosphere from Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca.
The resort was developed as one of Lanzarote's principal tourist areas and combines beaches, pedestrian areas, restaurants and a long coastal promenade.
One of its great attractions is that you can move between different parts of the resort on foot while enjoying the coastline.
Playa de Las Cucharas: beach and windsurfing
Playa de Las Cucharas is probably the best-known beach in Costa Teguise.
It has fine golden sand, a promenade, restaurants, parking, bus connections, showers, lifeguard services and sports equipment rental. Turismo Lanzarote also identifies it as one of the favourite beaches for windsurfers.

That makes Costa Teguise particularly interesting for travellers who want to combine a beach holiday with water sports.
Even if you are not planning to windsurf, the promenade around Las Cucharas is a pleasant area for walking, stopping for a drink or simply enjoying the coast.
Pueblo Marinero: a touch of César Manrique
One place I would definitely include in a visit to Costa Teguise is Pueblo Marinero.
Rather than treating Costa Teguise simply as a modern beach resort, Pueblo Marinero gives the centre a more distinctive Canarian character and is closely associated with the influence of César Manrique on the development of the resort.
Its squares, white buildings and pedestrian spaces make it a pleasant place to visit in the evening for a walk, dinner or a drink.
Markets at Pueblo Marinero
Pueblo Marinero is also home to several regular markets.
According to Turismo Lanzarote's current island guide, there is an agricultural market on Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00, a craft market on Wednesdays from 09:00 to 13:00, and a Friday market from 17:00 to 22:00.

This gives visitors another reason to explore the centre of Costa Teguise away from the beach.
More beaches in Costa Teguise
Although Las Cucharas is the best known, it is not the only beach in Costa Teguise.
Depending on where you are staying, you can also explore other stretches of coastline and smaller beaches around the resort.
This variety is one of the reasons why knowing the exact location of your accommodation is useful when arranging your airport transfer.
Costa Teguise as a base for exploring Lanzarote
Costa Teguise is also conveniently positioned for exploring the northern and central parts of Lanzarote.
From here, visitors can discover places connected with César Manrique, volcanic landscapes and attractions in the north of the island while still staying in a coastal resort.
And because Arrecife is nearby, it is relatively easy to combine a beach holiday with a visit to Lanzarote's capital.

Which is the best way to get from Lanzarote Airport to Costa Teguise?
The right choice depends on how you prefer to travel.
The public bus can be economical, but travelling from the airport to Costa Teguise generally requires an onward connection rather than a single direct airport service. Aena
A taxi provides a direct journey and can be taken from the airport rank without booking in advance.
A hire car gives you independence if you plan to explore the island regularly.
A pre-booked private transfer provides a direct door-to-door journey with your transport arranged before you arrive.
