Lanzarote Airport to Órzola & La Graciosa: Transfer, Bus, Ferry and Travel Guide

If you are travelling to Órzola or La Graciosa, your journey from Lanzarote Airport is quite different from travelling to the island's main holiday resorts.

Órzola is a small fishing village at the northern tip of Lanzarote and, most importantly for many visitors, the departure point for the ferries to La Graciosa.

So if your final destination is La Graciosa, your journey has two stages:

Lanzarote Airport → Órzola → ferry to La Graciosa.

In this guide, we explain the different ways to get from Lanzarote Airport (ACE) to Órzola, how to connect with the ferry, what to consider when travelling with luggage and what you can discover around Órzola if you have some extra time.

How far is Órzola from Lanzarote Airport?

Órzola is located at the extreme north of Lanzarote, in the municipality of Haría.

The road journey takes you through a very different landscape from the main tourist resorts, passing towards the volcanic scenery of northern Lanzarote.

For our private transfer service, we allow approximately 45–55 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you are continuing to La Graciosa, it is important to tell us your ferry departure time when arranging your transport so that the journey can be planned accordingly.

How do you get from Lanzarote Airport to La Graciosa?

There is no airport on La Graciosa.

To reach the island, you first travel to Órzola harbour in northern Lanzarote and then take a ferry to Caleta de Sebo, the main settlement on La Graciosa. Regular ferries operate throughout the year.

The ferry crossing takes approximately 25–30 minutes, depending on the operator and service.

Ferry schedules can change according to season and operational requirements, so we recommend checking the current timetable of your chosen ferry company before travelling.

Public transport from Lanzarote Airport to Órzola

Travelling by public transport is possible, but it is not as straightforward as travelling from the airport to Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca.

There is no standard direct public airport bus to Órzola. The journey normally requires connections through the island's bus network.

This can be the most economical option for travellers who have plenty of time and are travelling light, but anyone connecting with a specific ferry should carefully check the complete journey and allow enough time for connections.

There is also currently a shared airport-to-Órzola transfer offered in conjunction with certain La Graciosa ferry bookings, with limited scheduled departures.

This may suit travellers whose flight and ferry times coincide with the service.

Tip: Always check current transport and ferry schedules before travelling. Do not plan a tight connection based on an old timetable found online.

Taxi from Lanzarote Airport to Órzola

Official taxis are available from the designated taxi rank outside the airport terminal.

A taxi provides a direct journey to Órzola without public transport connections.

Fares are metered and depend on the applicable tariff, time and day of travel.

During busy arrival periods, particularly when several flights land within a short time, queues can form at the airport taxi rank.

If you need to connect with a particular ferry, waiting for an available taxi during a busy arrival period is something worth considering when planning your journey.

Hiring a car if you are travelling to La Graciosa

If Órzola itself is your destination and you intend to explore northern Lanzarote, hiring a car can be very convenient.

But if you are travelling onwards to La Graciosa, think carefully about whether you need a hire car at all.

La Graciosa has no asphalted roads and visitors generally explore the island on foot, by bicycle or using local taxi-jeeps.

Your hire car therefore remains in Lanzarote while you are on La Graciosa.

Parking in Órzola when travelling to La Graciosa

If you do drive to Órzola before taking the ferry, allow enough time to park and reach the harbour before boarding.

Parking availability varies according to season and time of day, so allow enough time to find a suitable space before your ferry departure.

If you are leaving a hire car in Órzola for several days while staying on La Graciosa, check the current parking arrangements and any conditions that may apply before travelling.

For travellers whose main destination is La Graciosa, this is one reason why a direct airport transfer to the ferry port can be worth considering.

Connecting your airport transfer with the ferry to La Graciosa

If your final destination is La Graciosa, do not book your road transfer and ferry independently without considering the connection time.

Allow time for collecting your luggage at the airport, travelling to Órzola, reaching the ferry terminal and boarding.

We recommend providing your ferry details when booking your private transfer.

And because flights, road conditions and ferry operations can occasionally change, avoid planning an unnecessarily tight connection.

Ferry from Órzola to La Graciosa

Several daily ferry services connect Órzola with Caleta de Sebo.

At present, both Líneas Romero and Biosfera Express operate the route, with multiple departures during the day. Current published schedules differ between operators and include seasonal services.

As ferry schedules can change, check the current departure times directly with the ferry companies before travelling:

Órzola: more than a ferry port

Órzola is often treated simply as the place where you catch the ferry to La Graciosa, but the village and surrounding coastline deserve more attention.

It is a small fishing community surrounded by an extraordinary volcanic landscape, with views towards the islands and islets of the Chinijo Archipelago.

If your travel plans give you some time before or after the ferry, Órzola is worth exploring rather than simply passing through.

La Graciosa: what happens after the ferry?

The ferry arrives at Caleta de Sebo, the principal settlement on La Graciosa.

One of the most distinctive things visitors notice is the absence of asphalted roads. Walking, bicycles and local taxi-jeeps are among the ways of getting around the island.

La Graciosa forms part of the natural environment of the Chinijo Archipelago and is particularly known for its volcanic landscapes, tranquillity and beaches.
