If there is one place in Lanzarote that truly represents the island’s volcanic origins, it is Timanfaya National Park. Located mainly in the municipality of Yaiza , in the southwest of Lanzarote, Timanfaya protects more than 5,000 hectares of volcanoes, lava fields and volcanic ash, largely formed during the eruptions that transformed this part of the island between 1730 and 1736.
