During the trip, the crew will give you detailed information about the cetacean species that you will be able to see. Although whale watching is not guaranteed, this excursion has a high percentage of success.
On arrival you will find the visitor centre where you can pick up general information about the small island. The small island has splendid bathing areas such as La Concha Beach, with its yellow sand, totally sheltered from the waves, and el Puertito where you can enjoy the wonderful clear waters.
A great chance to see wild and free *dolphins. Although sightings are not 100% guaranteed.
Lobos Island is a very small island measuring only about 4.58 km2 . It lies off the north east of the island of Fuerteventura. The two islands are separated by La Bocayna strait, which has a maximum depth of 30 metres. The island can be seen clearly from Corralejo.
It owes its name to the fact that in the past monk seals (also known as sea lions) lived on this island. Today they are totally extinct on the island.
The small island is part of the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park. It is home to more than 130 plant species and several bird species; of particular note are the herring gull, the bustard (at certain times of the year) and the Cory’s shearwater. The sea bed is an area of underwater reserve and contains considerable ecological wealth. The highest point (123 m) is at La Caldera
In the eastern half of the island there are numerous hornitos, mounds known as “little ovens” (often circular in shape and rising to a peak), an attractive and singular feature of the landscape.
Recent archaeological findings have concluded that Ancient Rome established a (possibly seasonal) settlement in the island, related with the obtention of purple dye.
